Branding and marketing are NOT the same thing.

If you’re in commercial real estate, you should know the difference.

Let me break it down for you:

→ Branding: It’s your identity. Your voice, your visuals, your values. Branding is what clients think and feel when they see your name. Are you perceived as professional? Approachable? Innovative? That’s branding.

→ Marketing: This is the megaphone. It’s how you promote your brand to generate leads, close deals, and grow your presence. Marketing gets the word out.

Think of it like this: Branding is the recipe that defines the flavor of your dish, while marketing is the enticing aroma wafting out of the kitchen, drawing people in for a taste.

Why do you need to have either?

Without a solid brand, your marketing is like shouting into the void. And without effective marketing, your brand is like a hidden gem—polished but unseen.

Which should you prioritize? BOTH.

If you’re just starting out, nail your branding first. The company you’re working for should (and I say this with all hope they do) have their marketing down. For that purpose, it would be wash, rinse, repeat.

Your social media needs to reflect who you are. A cohesive, trustworthy presence is the key to effective marketing down the line.

Hope this helps some of you today since that’s been a question that’s been asked a few times.

Deuces,
Mo
