Your LinkedIn Headline is Losing You Business.
Earlier this week I wrote a post about people not caring about your story until they do and it almost got me into a side rant about LinkedIn headlines and bios.
I stopped myself. It was hard, but it spurred another post. And this is it.
Ever seen a headline like this?
“Strategic Visionary | Transformational Business Leader | Synergizing Multi-Channel Growth for Scalable Market Expansion”
🤮
What does that even mean?! ::: cue Miley Cyrus screeching, “What Does it Mean?” :::
Your LinkedIn headline isn’t a place to sound smart—it’s a place to be clear.
If someone has to waste brain cells trying to figure out what you do…
They’re moving on. Fast.
Here’s the test:
→ If a fifth grader can understand it, you’re doing it right.
→ If you sound like a corporate jargon generator, fix it.
Bad Example:
“Results-Driven Commercial Real Estate Strategist | Leveraging Synergistic Market Insights for Optimized Asset Allocation & Value Maximization”
↳Translation: No clue what you do and clearly, neither do you.
Good Example:
“I help businesses find, lease, and invest in commercial real estate—without the headaches.”
See the difference? One confuses. One converts.
Make your LinkedIn headline stupidly simple.
Because if people don’t understand what you do in 3 seconds…
They’ll never do business with you.
What’s the worst LinkedIn headline you’ve seen?
Deuces,
Mo
