“I don’t want to be on video.”
“Whenever I see another broker do video, I cringe.”
“I scroll on by.”
These are the things :::cough:excuses::: I hear from brokers when we talk about adding video to their content marketing strategy.
Why such resistance to video? You’re already out there with your face at events, on flyers, on your website… so what’s the dealio, yo?
After thinking about it (and kicking this around with Fly Jamerson), here’s the real reason:
1️⃣ Fear – looking silly, looking stupid, etc.
2️⃣ Low self-confidence – no explanation needed
Brokers who show up on video are noticed, remembered, and trusted more than those who don’t. Why? Because video tells a story, and humans buy from humans they feel they know.
Earlier this year, Teleprompter.com reported:
“Nearly everyone watches video: 91.8% of internet users worldwide watch digital videos every week. In fact, over 78% of people watch online videos weekly, and 55% watch videos every day.”
Video increases visibility.
Video builds trust and understanding.
Video drives decisions.
According to a report on Broadcast2World, LinkedIn video posts get up to 4x more engagement than text posts, meaning that people are actually interacting with video and they’re 20x more likely to get shared too. 🤯
So if you’re hiding behind “I’m not comfortable on video,” what you’re really saying is: “I’d rather be forgettable.”
You’re gonna have to change how you view video and make it a part of your content marketing strategy for 2026.
Here’s an easy way to get started:
Step 1: Press Record on your smart phone
Step 2: Talk about a deal, market insights you shared with your last client or prospect, lessons learned, etc (Hint: write it on a post it note and put on your computer screen so you can reference it.)
Step 3: Edit in an app like Descript, InShot, or OpusClip.
Step 4: POST
Whether you think it’s “cringe” or not, video isn’t just about showing your face it’s about showing your credibility and that, dear reader, is priceless in this business.
Deuces,
Mo
