No Need to Clap Back: Stay the Hero, Not the Villain

No Need to Clap Back

Let’s talk about something no one tells you when you start a business: You’re going to take things personally sometimes. And honestly? That’s fine.

Because if you actually care about the thing you’re building, you’re going to feel it when someone takes a swipe at it.

The lesson isn’t, “Don’t take it personally.”
The lesson is, “Don’t let your personal feelings turn you into the villain in someone else’s story.”

You’re the hero of your business. I’m just the guide here, handing you the flashlight and the snacks.

Heroes? They don’t waste time throwing rocks at trolls under bridges. They stay focused on the quest.

Recently, I found out someone was making offhand comments about my business and methods… comments that were patently false, clearly insecure, and honestly… hilariously wrong.

Did I take it personally? Yep. It’s my baby. Of course I did.

But here’s the part I REALLY want you to hear:

What actually mattered wasn’t what was said. It was who showed up for me.

My people – my clients, my community, my behind-the-screens protectors -were the ones who brought it to my attention. They reached out. They defended me. They were ready to go feral on my behalf (metaphorically… I think).

And that’s the reminder I want to give you:
→ Have the right people in your corner. They’ll run interference before you even know you need it.
→ It’s okay to feel the sting. It means you care. It means you’re human.
→ Don’t lower yourself to someone else’s tactics. Heroes don’t sling mud. They choose their battleground.
→ Your people will always be your people. Loyalty is louder than gossip. Every single time.

So yeah, NGL, I was pissed. But I was ALSO profoundly encouraged.

Because nothing makes you realize you’re on the right path like seeing who steps up when the shid hits the fan.

And if someone’s willing to go to war (metaphorically) for you? Congrats, hero.
You’re doing something right.

Deuces,
Mo
