Screenshots Live Forever

I’ve shared my story before about how I got fired for calling a group of annoying people acting like a swarm of unruly toddlers on a sugar high “Dumbass Douche Canoes.”

When asked why I didn’t delete my message immediately after posting it, I said, “Screenshots live forever.”

Even though I did everything right…informed my supervisor, explained the situation, etc., I was still fired for it. The screenshot was sent to the owner of the company. The person who took the screenshot slid into my DMs, called me some nasty names (which I screenshot, by the way), and threatened to make sure I got fired.

Welp, I did.

And while it was initially devastating (I’d never been fired before), I ended up moving on to much bigger and better things…namely, the amazing community I’m now part of.

So, why do I tell you this story?

Because I want you to remember:
Every comment. Every post. Every interaction. Is a reflection of YOU and your brand. Or better yet, your company’s brand.

Before you post something in frustration, anger, or just because you’re feeling extra bold, think twice. Is it worth it?

Are you willing to have that comment shared, screenshot, and sent to someone else? Would you be comfortable with that getting back to your boss, your clients, or your partners?

Your online presence matters. It matters today, tomorrow, and in the long run. Build it with integrity, empathy, and professionalism. And, remember… Screenshots Live Forever.

Deuces,
Mo
